Mimosa Pudica

Mimosa Pudica locally known as "makahiya plant" in the Philippines is a pantropical weed. It has a slender prickly woody-stems that grows up to 1 to 1.5 meter long. Makahiya plants are indeed sensitive because it close or fold its leaves inward when touched. Hence, it is also called sensitive plant or the touch-me-not plant.

  1. I grew that one year in my little garden in New York state when I was a child! Of course it only got a few inches tall, and died when the frost hit, but I was fasinated by it. Neat to read a bit about sensitive plant and see it in bloom!
