First Meal in Nanjing, China + Some Scenes

After a long 4hours+ following the national highway from Shanghai, we arrived at the Nanjing, Jiangsu at 1:30PM. The guide brought us to the hotel to check-in, left our things and went out to take our lunch. A super late lunch at a local restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

The boys walking ahead of us, they sure were very hungry.
The Local Restuarant. I do not how to read the characters.

As a first timer in China, I’m looking forward to tasting their local dishes. I was hoping to try their exotic foods as mentioned by my colleagues, but unfortunately in our 1 week stay in the Chinese land, I never got a chance to try any. Nevertheless, I’m still thankful that I was able to taste/eat some of their everyday dishes for free.

To start with, the server in the restaurant offered us hot tea, made of some green leaves which we didn’t bother asking what because of the communication barrier (majority (correct me if I’m wrong) of the people in Nanjing, cannot speak nor understand English, we communicate with them using the Google translator that we installed in our smartphone) with matching bowl + soup spoon, plate and chopsticks.

The dishes were served after minutes of waiting, and they were placed in our table one dish at a time with few minutes interval, meaning we started picking out and trying whatever food in front of us using the chopsticks (It took me a while to manage the chopsticks. I should have practiced them before the trip), we’re too hungry to wait for the rice which was served last.

After the meal, we walked again much slower this time going back to the hotel and by this time I was able to take some shots along the way using my Samsung WB250F Smart Camera. I'm still regretting why I didn't carry with me my DSLR. Sigh!
Anyway, these are some of the scene taken along the way.

A girl riding her bike happened to pass in front of me while I'm taking the shot  of the intersection.

At the back of that hospital is the hotel where we lived in.

There was no other activity in stored for us by our host on the arrival day, meaning we have the few hours remaining before sundown to visit one of the tourist spots in the city, the Fuzimiao where the Confucius Temple is located. Ant that will be on my next post...
