The Dinner + Few Shopping Finds in Nanjing

We’re done with breakfast and lunch, now let’s hurry back to the hotel for the dinner…

Because we were so curious with the kind of food that the hotel will serve for dinner, we stayed until it’s over on the first day before heading out to explore the malls and stores nearby. These are the dishes served, still no exotic foods in sight;

Like before I did not bother asking the name of the dishes, nor read the menu because I’m quite sure there were no English translation.

Some smelled different, some tasted different, and some were also delicious… Overall the food experience was quite extraordinary,

The days in Nanjing went by in a flash, as much as possible, we tried to explore the city and get to buy something for souvenirs.

Li-ning is the # 1 sports brand in China, and I came to know the brand because Chinese badminton players wore them in international tournaments. My target is to buy a Li-ning badminton racket in Nanjing, but sad to say I have not found any in the stores that we’ve been too, instead I brought home with me the following;

1. A Li-ning black and pink running shoes that I have used during our stay in China
2. Li-ning badminton back pack for my husband
3. A Li-ning hooded sports jacket for my husband
4. An Anta hooded thermal jacket that I have worn right after I purchased it, because the temperature in China was still at 10C.

There were times, we opted to disregard the free dinner at the hotel and went to get something western like the burgers and fries at KFC and McDonalds.

A ¥31 KFC meal is quite expensive if you’ll convert it to Philippine Peso (P217) and McSpicy chicken burger meal @ ¥18.00 (P128).

And finally, my top priority souvenir item that I am so longing for, a Starbucks Mug Nanjing, bought at Starbucks Coffee along Hunan Road.

Another addition to my collection, my first SB mug personally bought abroad.

The trip in Nanjing, China is one good experience, but nothing beats the tour we had in Shanghai. The Oriental Pearl Tower that I got to see only on television, the river cruise, the shopping destination… so stay tuned.

  1. I am looking for forward to a business travel trip I have this August. But I an telling Daddy that I am still afraid to travel and I wish he can join me there too. Hopefully my passport will arrive as soon as possible. By the way, I am afraid to try exotic food or let us say I don't have the guts hehe..

  2. Good to know you had fun during your business trip to Nanjing. It's strange that it was difficult for you to find a badminton racket there.

  6. There are times I want to try exotic foods. Here there are many exotic foods I already tasted like the mudborer or sosohong, bayawak and palaka.

  7. The beauty of doing a literal turo-turo on a menu is that you won't know what you're gonna get!
