The Huangpu River Cruise in Shanghai China

After our tour at the Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower, we headed to the dock for our Huangpu River Cruise which we were scheduled to board the 11:00AM ferry.

The snake like river is the largest river in Shanghai about 114kilometers long and 400 meters wide with an average depth of 11 meters. Huangpu River divided Shanghai into east and west part, the Pudong and Puxi respectively. 

 

Cruising the Huangpu River lets tourists like us witness the development of Shanghai. You’ll be amazed with the well known the Bund, from the historical buildings that were preserved to the modern buildings made of steels and glasses aligning along the river bank.

The modern buildings in Shanghai

The waterfront area in central Shanghai is called the Bund. Usually referred to the buildings and wharves along the section of Zhongshan Road, as well as the adjacent areas and is the most famous tourist destination in Shanghai.

The photos would have looked stunning if the weather cooperated.  But sadly, the smog had covered Shanghai and even at midday the weather was so cold. My jacket was too thin to protect me from the chilling wind, thus by the time we had our lunch I was so groggy and nauseated. 

I thought I was going to catch a cold + fever, and probably barred from returning the country that night. Plus not enjoying the few more hours in Shanghai before heading to the airport. Thank goodness the 2 hours of sleep in the coaster + the Paracetamol Biogesic I brought with me worked. 

By 3PM Mr. Chen brought me to the area where he left the rest of the group to explore. Thus, I was able to visit The City Temple of Shanghai on my own. Series of photos in my next post…
