Spring Flowers Called Viola

I have seen these colorful blooms in Shanghai, China in the beginning of the second quarter of last year.
Violas at Nanjing Road, Shanghai
It was the start of Spring, hence these pretties are abundantly blossoming almost anywhere in Shanghai. I actually posted them before and just called it “Spring Flowers” because I do not know the name.

Until, today when I google for “violas for students”. I was expecting for classical instruments because that’s the only Viola I know. Then I saw these flowers, the flowers I have only seen in China for the first time in my life and they are indeed spring flowers but this time with a name called “Viola”.

When Time is Spent, Eternity Begins

February 6, 2015 was the 2nd year we commemorated the death of my father in law. Last year, we weren’t able to visit his grave because that was also the time that my mother in law (hubby’s mom) was hospitalized, and a few days later on the 24th of February she succumbed to breast cancer.

My parents in law died in the same month one year apart, just like my parents who also died in the month of March, 2 years apart.  Both of us are longing for parents that we can see, hug and talk to, but that is what life is all about their time in the world of the living had already expired and they have to move and live a happy life in paradise because

The photo above was taken at Cabanglasan Public Cemetery, with the sun striking fiercely yet the wind is cool in the bright midday.

On Sunday, we’ll be heading again to hubby’s hometown to say our prayers and remember the death of my loving mother in law.

The Dragon Door Handles

Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Because it is a happy celebration for our Chinese friends, might as well take you back to one of the ancient temples in China.

My last year’s trip in China, my first foreign trip ever was very unforgettable. The memories are still fresh and I can’t hide the fact that I am one lucky girl to be able to visit the country for free.

One of the few attractions that we visited in Shanghai was the Old Temple, you can read about it here. What I am featuring this time are the old doors painted in red and with dragon head design brass door handles.

History tells us that, the dragon was used to symbolize the Emperor of China.  It is the a symbol of good luck, strength and power. This may be the reason why there a lot of things designed with dragon in it just like the door handles.

Over time many had changed, including the designs of furnitures and doors  or just everything. They are designed not just for decorative purposes but as well as to the function and durability, like the grant sliding door hardware. If I am to choose which door to install in my future home, I might choose the old style with a touch of modern.

Just Another Blog Update

The last time I updated this blog was after my birthday. I made a challenge a photo a day challenge for this blog, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to cope up. I was too busy in my offline job, that my things online were neglected for a while. It was truly stressful the past days, I just hope that after this month we have additional manpower that can help us with the work load, but I guess is is too good be true for the time being.

Anyway, yesterday our company nurse already discussed with the some of our colleagues regarding the results of the Annual Physical Examination, probably tomorrow it will be our group’s turn. I am praying that the results are not bad, I am too paranoid sometimes, overly thinking of some things which were not.

These days, more and more foods were made claiming to be healthy when in fact some had preservatives that are not good for the health. Thus, we also need to take something to protect us. I am considering taking food supplements that will keep us from bad radicals, there’s also a lot in the market, like rowatinex. My goal now is to choose which one is better.
