Golden Vanda

This lovely flower is a genus in the orchid family (orchidaceae). This orchid genus has about 70 species and it's usually called "Vanda", derived from the classical Indian language Sanskrit.

Vandas or orchids in general are quite abundant in the Philippines, specially in Davao City where different orchids genus/species are cultivated. These pretty blooms usually used as table center pieces and other decorations in various establishments. Just like these golden vandas on top of the restaurant table at Apo View Hotel.

    They are beautiful! Unfortunately, I cant make an orchid bloom no matter how hard I try, hehe. Maybe these flowers are immune to my green thumb ;-)

    Lovely photos. Reminds me of mother, she loves orchids and used to buy them in dozens.Ngayon meron na syang about 2 dozens of different kinds of orchids and Vanda is one of them.

    These are beautiful! I mostly see either white or purple orchids, I've never seen a yellow one!
