The Moon A Day Before Christmas

This is how the moon looks like in this part of the earth at exactly 5:39PM, a day before Christmas 2012. Nothing special really but letting us experience a beautiful weather on Christmas Eve because on Christmas Day, rain has started falling because the last typhoon to hit our country has arrived.

We're thankful that typhoon Quinta was not deadly compared to the previous one (Pablo) who had devastated the Compostela Valley here in Mindanao.

I hope and pray that Pablo will be the last typhoon to hit our country badly.

Christmas Decors

Aside from Filipino homes, the hotels, malls, plazas, streets, offices are some of the places that are gorgeously decorated on Christmas Season.

Just like this local hotel, that we usually at during seminars and trainings. In fact our Christmas party last week was also held here. Take a look at their grand decorations although I wasn't able to photograph the rest because I only have with me my mobile phone but still I was able to give justice to some.

These are the gorgeous Christmas Trees at the lobby of N-Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

A closer look of the Christmas ornaments at the resto.

And these cute elves at the pool side.

I sure do want to spend our Christmas or New Year in the hotel, unfortunately we don't have budget for that. And besides Christmas spent at home with family is always the best Christmas ever!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Ipomoea Aquatica Flower

Ipomoea Aquatica, water spinach in English and known as "kangkong" in the Philippines is a semiaquatic tropical plant that usually grows in water or moist soil. Grown and known also as leaf vegetable and it has a trumpet-shaped flower usually of light lavender or white just like in the photos below.

I spotted this flowering kangkong at Bukidnon, during our vacation last month, although it's near to withering stage but still it look great to point my lens at.

Typhoon Pablo (Bopha)

The eye of Typhoon Pablo with international name Bopha had hit Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines at approximately 12 noon yesterday and stayed for at least 1 hour moving west towards Dumaguete City with strong winds of 101-185kph.

As of this writing Typhoon Pablo is located near Puerto Princesa Palawan, Philippines.

courtesy of DOST PAGASA
With slight rain and heavy winds this is how the direction of the winds before the eye of the Typhoon had hit our City yesterday around 11:23AM taken outside our home.

At 12:48PM with the eye of the typhoon in the vicinity strong to intense winds were changing directions.

After the the passing by of the eye of the Typhoon, heavy rains had started pouring at past 1PM.

People in Cagayan de Oro City are still traumatized because of Typhoon Sendong that hit the City on December 16 last year that killed more than 2000. This time the people are all aware and alert.

And We thank you LORD for keeping us all safe this time.

December Photo a Day # 1 - 8'oclock

I just read about the December Photo a Day Challenge this afternoon, and it's already December 1, 2012 here in the Philippines. That means I already missed the 8'oclock in the morning snap but nevertheless I still have another 8'oclock and that was this evening.

The challenge is to take a photo at whatever you’re doing at 8am or 8pm.

At 8pm tonight I have prepared my son's milk formula.

My 2 year old son had to sleep early at 8pm because he wasn't able to nap in the afternoon.

This photo was shot using my mobile phone.

Stopping by the road in between long drive is one worthy rest especially when you have with you your camera.

The scene above was taken in somewhere along the highway of Bukidnon, Philippines.

Ampalaya Flower

Have you seen an ampalaya flower?

Amplaya is the local name of Momordica charantia widely known as the bitter gourd or bitter melon in English.

The flower is too pretty, who would believe that a vine with pretty flower like this will bear a warty looking fruit and with bitter taste.

bitter gourd - picture not mine.

Droplets After the Rain

Dark sky, cold winds, pouring rain that's how it was yesterday. We had to stay indoor the whole day because of continuous rain.

Today the sun had finally smiled and greeted us with a very beautiful morning. What had remained are rain droplets on plants and any other surfaces outdoor just like the photo above.

Green Bulby Weeds

“Every garden may have some weeds
And weeds also have hidden beauties like these green bulby thing growing in the rice field.

I took these photos at my husband's hometown, in Cabanglasan Bukidnon. These weeds had grown in the rice paddies infront of my in-laws house.

The Soccer Field

With vast green areas in Bukidnon, every scenery are simply beautiful. Just like this playing field in Manolo Fortich, green grass, blue sky, fluffy clouds it's so glorious. This how beautiful the weather was in Central Mindanao last November 1, 2012 during our trip to Bukidnon.

This soccer field is located at the back of Binalot Restuarant at Manolo Fortich, the place where we usually stop over for lunch, whenever we travel to Bukidnon.

Koi Fishes in the Pond

I spotted these Koi fishes in the pond. I enjoy watching them, but I don't think I can take care of them, because I'm too lazy to try.

Potted Dendrobiums

I spotted these potted orchids for sale at Robinsons in Lim Ket Kai Mall. I wanted to grow orchids and hopefully to multiply them and will soon have an orchid garden our own home, in our own front yard.

I was attracted with the different varieties of dendrobium orchids displayed, with sudden impulse I chose and bought two of them at P195.00 each.

Of course, I chose those that have seedlings with them.

With all the colors available, I picked up these colors;

red maroon

and this tiger-liked dendro

Soon I'll get the other colors too, but before that I have to observe first how these orchids will bloom in my hands.

Orange Sky at Cabanglasan

This is how sunset looks like beyond the coconut trees and mountains of Bukidnon, taken in front of my inlaws home at Cabanglasan Bukidnon.

Orange sky, just a perfect sunset on a perfect weather. I'm glad I was able to snap this scene the moment we arrived at Cabanglasan because the following day the sun was covered with dark skies and pouring rain.
