A Dinner Date at Roadhouse Cafe

I declared myself on holiday from work last Friday, December 19, 2014. 

I applied for a vacation leave to attend my son’s Christmas party together with hubby, our little girl and their caregivers. Later in the afternoon, the kids were left at home with the caregivers while hubby and I went to meet our Godparents to deliver the two bracelets that Ninang Malou ordered. Stayed with them for 1 hour chit chatting and later went to Centrio Mall. 

It was already past 6PM that we realized that we are hungry and decided to have an instant dinner date just the two of us. Yep! The last time we dine out was like forever, we seldom go out, and it we do the kids will tag along. 

I was craving for a steak, in fact we also have a scheduled dinner date before Christmas with friends and on my menu is a steak. Hubby and I chose Roadside Cafe at Centrio Mall. To satisfy my craving I ordered rib eye steak, while hubby ordered a sizzling pork steak. Unfortunately, the rib eye steak  was not available, they offered the available porterhouse steak instead, which I gladly agreed without asking the price (feeling rich lang!).

Fifteen to twenty minutes later, the freshly cooked pork steak on a sizzling plate with veggies and sauce and the well-done Porterhouse Steak with veggies and gravy were served. 

Hubby and I munched the meat and vegetables and of course the rice. We spent like almost an hour, eating and chit chatting just about anything, savoring every bite because it was truly delicious. I have no question with that.(Thumbs up!)

After that, here comes the bill. I was tasked to pay our dinner that night because hubby wasn’t able to withdraw cash from the ATM. I was expecting about P600-1000 bill, but it turned out the porterhouse steak alone with weight of 370grams was already at P1,017.50. Whaaaaat! The food we ordered totaled at P1,452.50. Wow! (Napa dilat ng mas malaki ang mata ko!)! Mare ang mahal! 

The experience was totally hilarious for us because hubby and I were trying to be frugal, but turned out, we expend that much just for a dinner.

 

Anyway, it is Christmas after all, might as well consider it as a gift to ourselves. My cravings for steak was overly satisfied and will last for another year unless someone will treat me for another round of steak.

By the way, we took out the porterhouse steak bone (with still few strips of meat) for our dog at home, for her also to get a share of P1,017.50 steak.
