I Heart OC (Orange Claw)

It was already noon time when I finished my regular appointment with the dentist in Iligan City, three weeks ago. Hubby and I were already hungry and still trying to figure out which of the so many food venues to try, thank goodness he bought something at Poprock while waiting for me.

I remembered, our Ninang posted a new restaurant to try in the city. The concept was the same as the Red Tail here in Cagayan de Oro City. Seafoods were served in plastic transparent bags and you eat with your hands with disposable gloves.

Hubby and I decided to try and went to search the place, thanks to my officemate for the impromptu SMS for the direction/location.

The place is pretty much noticeable because of the “I Heart OC” in front (OC stands for Orange Claw). We can see from the outside that there were only a few diners inside. Thank goodness! Because I heard that they were jam-packed on their soft opening.
We took the seats away from the bare glass window considering the bright sunlight.

The menu printed on a specialty board is sort of below the budget (hope they can come up a better one in the days to come), anyway it was written that they are still scheduling their Grand Opening soon. So probably by that time the menu is already laminated (at least).

We ordered the specialty of the house, the Orange Catch in Garlic Sauce. The Orange Catch is a combination of shrimps, crabs, squid and mussels cooked with your choice of sauce at P399 per serve, good for two persons.

After (I think) 20 to 30 minutes, the freshly cooked food were served in their usual plastic bag, placed on top of the manila-paper covered table, alongside with the two bowls of rice and a can of sprite (hubby and I are not really into soft drinks, thus a can to share is already enough).

The orange catch in garlic sauce was tasty and delicious, definitely passed my standard, though I still prefer the hot and chili kind, maybe next time. It has the right quantity for two persons and at a very reasonable price too.

Overall, our first time experience in OC was awesome, the area was clean and the servers were friendly too. Will I visit them again next time I am in the city? Definitely Yes! A must try restaurant in Iligan City indeed. Until next time.. :-)

Oh, by the way, the concept was indeed nice, but it is not really good in my opinion to serve very hot food in a plastic bag. Remember that anything plastic produces harmful chemicals when exposed to heat. Serving food in glass containers is much safer for all of us.

  1. Interesting! This is my first time I heard about OC. Their menu looks palatable and affordable. I would love to try if they have a branch here in Manila.
