10 Road Trip Must Have for the Whole Family

Two months from now, its summer in this part of the world. Actually, as early as now we can already feel the super heat of the sun because of the presence of El Nino conditions. Sunny weather with no rain or typhoon coming is one of the best times to travel and explore the country. But because hubby and are both corporate employees, our job is literally taking us away from the impending adventures. We need to arrange our schedules in such away, that our jobs will not be affected and the most convenient for the whole family and friends.

Summer last year, together with our friends we planned for a road trip going to the north eastern part of Mindanao. The place where the Enchanted River is located and surfing is a must try. Yep! It’s a family road trip to Surigao. One of our friends will be in the city to attend his daughter’s college graduation, might as well join forces and hit the road after. Oh wait, maybe the car we have cannot carry the whole gang, I think we will look into car rentals too.

Though, it’s still a few months away, I have to list down some of our must have items, considering we’re tagging along our two kids. Going on a trip with the kids is like bringing the whole house with us. To name some here they are, categorized accordingly

1. A set of clothing and footwear.
This includes shirts, shorts, briefs, pants, jackets, pajamas, rash guards, slippers, clogs and rubber shoes. Always bring extras after all extra baggage will not be charged when you go on a road trip.

2. Toiletries and accessories.
Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, powder, baby oil, sunblock lotion, bath towel, face towel, wet wipes and diapers. Who knows the place you are planning to go to, will not have the things you need such as the toiletries, so pack all what you need for the whole family.

3. Water, Food and Milk Formula.
If you are carrying your kids with you, make sure to bring their milk formula, non messy food and of course water and other beverages.

4. Some books, Toys and tablet to occupy them.
Kids tend to be fussy. Bring some books, toys and a tablet/iPad to keep them occupied.

5. Camera, Tripod and Monopod
Road Trip is an adventure that one should enjoy and make a lot of memories of pulling over and taking photos of anything that you want or have your photo taken from whatever background you can find. A camera, a tripod and monopod are definitely a must. And don’t forget to bring with you extra memory cards, you’ll might need extra space just in case you filled up your 64gb memory card.

6. Smartphones, Mobile devices with GPS
Sometimes we find ourselves in the middle of nowhere and can’t find anyone to ask for directions. A smart phone with installed navigator is needed to find your direction, an application that will enable you to navigate even without the internet is preferable.

7. Powerbank
With all the gadgets we are carrying today, powerbank is also a must have. With it, you don’t need to find an establishment with outlets just to have your battery recharged.

8. First Aid Kit and Medicines
Small accidents can happen while you are on the road. A small cut or bruise needs to be treated right away, thus, a first aid kit should be with you at all times + over the counter medicines such as paracetamol, loperamide and antacid.

9. Maps
At times when there is no communication signal or the mobile devices just won’t work, a physical map is a very big help. So get one, and put in your car for emergency purposes.

10. Ice Box
To keep all your beverage cool during the long travel. Remember that's it is summer time!

Are we ready for the most awaited road trip? I think we are. Only a few things left and my list is already complete. Have an exciting road trip! J
