DIY - Guest Book or Photo Album?

January Zelene       8:15 PM       photo layout , pre-nuptial pictorial       8 comments

My body resistance dropped down and my immune system has weakened after continuous lack of sleep, work stress, and other extra activities that contributed to my condition right now. I had colds and I feel my head will burst any moment, but somehow I managed to get up and report to work.

I’ve written in my last post that I’ll be posting the photo shoots I made during the annual streetdancing here in Iligan City but unfortunately I wasn’t able to upload and select the better shots I had. So maybe by tomorrow I’ll begin my series of posts on “Diyandi Festival” I will also include my first try on concert photography. (cross-fingers! LOL)

So what will I post today, the last day of September 2009? hmmm… let me see.. how about an album layout? I made my own version of a 20 pages 10x8 guest book layout for our wedding last year featuring as page background our rugged pre-nuptial pictorial.

FYI, the guestbook ended up as purely pre nuptial photo album because I didn’t have it signed, LOL… Good thing the wedding planner provided a separate guest book for the guests.

(photos by Mr. Cipriano)

Check out also my previous blog. I posted 2 versions of our wedding album photo storybook that I did myself too.

Pompon Flowers

January Zelene       7:26 PM       Close Up Shots , Flower 101 , Nature Photography       5 comments

Oooopss! Another delay here in my site! No updates from me the past couple of days, hmmm why do you think? Well, because of another busy days! Huh! Fridays usually are super busy day at work bunch of reports to be prepared and submitted. I was hoping I can post anything last Saturday but too bad I wasn’t able to do so. We had another usual get together with friends and ended up getting home late.

Then the following day “Sunday” woke early to catch the “Kasadya Festival” or street dancing. I had numerous photos taken during the event, I’ll be posting it soon. So watch out for it.

For the meantime I’d post another flower for you my friends, an all-time garden flower favorite “globe amaranth”. Globe Amaranth is a non stop blooming plant that can flourish in hot condition. It offers a pompon like flowers that are very attractive to butterflies.

These purple pompon flowers were taken at the garden landscape of Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.

Enjoy! Have a Nice Day!

Real Farm Town

January Zelene       5:29 PM       Nature Photography       1 comment

I've joined the gang per invitation from friends who virtually own a farm and dreaming to have the same in the real world. I got hooked on Facebook’s “Farmtown” also and became one of the million dreamers who wish that someday I will own a real farm with really mansion in it.
Kringggggg! Janjan wake up! Welcome to the real world! Owning such a huge property takes forever for us ordinary people to acquire (maybe on the next reincarnation) so it is best to be contented on what we have at the present.

So I rather share to you a real life small farm owned by my husband’s parents. This is where Jessie and his siblings had grown up. This is the small farm that Jessie’s parents had plowed, harvested crops, worked hard to live on and give their children good education, good life, better future.

Rice Stalks

Ricefield & Mountains

Citrus

Happy Farming!

Redlight on Smoked Glass

January Zelene       8:16 PM       things and stuffs       2 comments

I found this photo while digging into my hard drive. This was one of my practice shot taken sometime in June 2009 while having a break from a tedious voluntary busyness in layouting souvenir program, stage back draft, giveaways design intended for the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. Regional Conference held in Zamboanga City last June 2009.

I saved this photo because I believed I was able to capture a pretty red light reflected on the dining table smoked glass.
I love my mouse. I can't use my laptop without it because laptop cursor pad and I are enemies!(it slows me down! LOL)

A Coffee for a Lovely Angel

January Zelene       5:38 PM       Coffee , Food       10 comments

I was trying to figure out how to place a “grab my button” on the sidebar (just in case somebody wants to grab it and add me in their site, LOL ) but I’m hopeless, I don’t know how to do it, I’m not familiar with html etc. I’ve searched the internet for tutorial but I wasn’t able to find one.

Then suddenly an angel came and willingly taught me how to do it sent me an email for the code and some instructions, my lovely angel Jaye of http://scrapping-delights.blogspot.com.

As a token of appreciation here’s cup of café latte for you! Thanks so much dear!

Pretty Vinca

January Zelene       6:47 AM       Close Up Shots , Flower 101 , Macro Photography , Nature Photography , Plants       7 comments

I have been a slacker in updating my blog the past 3 days if I counted it right, I been busy at work and busy doing nothing at home. haaaaaaaaaaaay!

Anyways, I mentioned in my last post that I’ll be hunting another sunset this weekend but sad to say the sun seems to play hide and seek with me. The sky is too cloudy again. No sunset insight again. Grrrrrrrrr!

Hope I can catch him soon... cross-fingers!

Since I don’t have a sunset shot for today, I'm going back to one of my favorites, FLOWERS!

Hello VINCA!

Vinca is an annual plant, meaning it can tolerate variety of conditions and all throughout the year it can deliver pretty flowers. This pretty vinca can grow from 6 to 16 inches tall, it is easy to grow and a drought tolerant.

My share of tropical rose vinca and pretty in white vinca.

I love photographing sunset! I wanna chase its beauty. The orange horizon, the gradient it gives that makes me WOW! so mesmerizing.

Here's another share taken from Centennial Park, the sun has started to set at around 5:00pm.

This weekend I'm planning to have another sunset hunt along the Iligan Bay and i just hope I can catch a perfect one.

Have a Nice Day Friends!

Who Wants some Beefsteaks?

January Zelene       9:52 PM       leaves , Nature Photography , Plants , Simply Colorful       3 comments

Don’t be fooled by the title guys, most likely it implies food right?

Buzzzzzz WRONG!

Today I won’t be posting and talking about food but rather an annual plant called a “beefsteak plant”.

Beefsteak plant grows form 1-3 feet tall and is incredibly adaptable in both sun and shade. These attractive foliage offers beautifully variegated leaves great for containers, beds and borders on landscape.

Where did I got this one? hmmm Ah! One of my shots at Cagayan de Oro Botanical Garden infront of Lim Ket Kai MAll.

Simply Colorful! Enjoy!

A Misty Waterfalls

January Zelene       6:40 PM       Nature Photography , waterfalls       3 comments

The sun was burning hot on Sunday mid-morning onwards, I browsed the internet and played farmtown in facebook although the room feels like an oven, played poker with my friend Nice until we decided to spend the rest of the day at the pool and plunge ourselves on the cold water. So we contacted the rest of the gang and around 2pm were off to the cold spring water of Timoga Swimming Pools.

After arriving at Mimar's Springway, we explored the place and noticed this flowing water coming directly from the spring and cascading downwards, (but of course! LOL) a short waterfalls, cold water bouncing on the big rocks.

I’ve seen this kind of photos before but I thought this can’t be captured using a DSLR camera, I thought the pictures I’ve seen before were edited, until last Sunday I finally had a practice shot of a “misty” water falls and finally believed that my camera although an entry level DSLR can already do wonders.

Hope you like it too..
Leave your comments please and I really appreciate constructive criticisms.
Thanks!

Scraps from Freebies

January Zelene       8:22 PM       digital scrapbooking , Scraps from Freebies , Snappy Scrappy       1 comment

I finally decided to make a personal scrap after many months of rest from photoshop exploring. I made this scrap using layers of gradients as “background” sort of paper and the elements are downloaded freebies from snappy scrappy on a 5x7 paper layout. Though the color is a bit in contrast with the water, but I still think it looks great. LOL

My Treat

January Zelene       12:58 AM       Food Photography       1 comment

This week seems to be a very busy week for us, especially our group "Operations Planning" and "Dispatching". The existing power system situation here in our area, power shortage and forecast for tomorrow and Sunday are driving us nuts. The Dispatchers are depended to our output, our group did the planning and simulation of power curtailment for this weekend where as the Dispatching will be the one to implement it. (Oopps sorry guys if I'm being technical here...) It is expected that this weekend we will be experiencing brownout that means I have to find a place to escape the hot weather this weekend. huh!

Anyways, to compensate our hard work today I'll be the one to treat you a yummy dinner!

chicken barbeque, salad and of course rice.

Enjoy my treat! Hugs!

Picnic and Sunset at the Centennial Park

January Zelene       7:16 PM       Centennial Park , Nature Photography , sunset       4 comments

I've been posting mostly flower photos these days it is because flowers seems to be my most popular subject. I enjoyed pointing my camera on them, what more if I already have my macro lens hehehe then I can go more on detail.

But anyways I’ll take a rest on flower-posting today and I’ll share to you one of sun’s faces during the setting period. This photo was taken last Monday, when my friends and I decided to spend an afternoon at Centennial Park in Dalipuga, Iligan City, Philippines.

I was really excited because I’ll be shooting another sunset. The sun was bright and the sky is clear at around 3PM when we left home, I was hoping for the same when we arrived at the park but too bad the clouds are angry. The clouds are too dark and it covered my most awaited sunset. Whaaaaaaaah…

So we had our picnic instead, with our “baon” snacks tuna sandwich made by our personal caterer Joven hehehe paired with softdrinks and other “chichirya” junk foods.

Then I had a glimpse of the sun still partially covered with clouds. Finally I had a slightly contented heart for now for having this shot taken.
cool! enjoy!

Yellow for Freedom

January Zelene       6:00 PM       Flower 101 , Macro Photography , Yellow       2 comments

Today is the 40th death day of Former President Corazon C. Aquino the “Mother of Philippine Democracy”. To commemorate the day I chose to post this flower because of its bright yellow color that symbolizes freedom and unity.

Yellow was the color used during the 1986 EDSA People Power uprising that brought down Former President Ferdinand Marcos 20-year dictatorship.

And it so happen that I’m attracted to Yellow. My wedding motif was also yellow and I owned several yellow shirts. LOL

Ooopss sorry I do not know the name of this flower yet… I’ll research first and post again soon....

Flower 101 - Lantana

January Zelene       8:11 PM       Flower 101 , Lantana , Macro Photography       3 comments

One of the commonly seen flowers anywhere is Lantana, I did not know its name until today while browsing the internet and came across the Better Homes and Gardens website.

Lantana is said to be a surviving plant it can thrive even with little moisture and hot sunny weather.

The picture I got was one of the brightly colored flowers Lantana can offer.
I
More to come if I come across other shades of Lantana.

Enjoy! Have a Nice Day!

A Visit at the Divine Mercy Shrine

January Zelene       9:22 PM       Divine Mercy , Misamis Oriental       1 comment

On our way home from Cagayan de Oro City, Joel, Jessie, Nice and I decided to pass by and visit the Divine Mercy Shrine in Municipality of El Salvador. The 50 foot statue of Jesus Christ stands at the Ulaliman Hills overlooking the Macajalar Bay in Misamis Oriental, Philippines, it is the place of pilgrimage of the Divine Mercy devotees.

As a sacred site, visitors are not allowed wear to shorts or any skin revealing clothes. It so happened that we went there wearing shorts, so the guard gave as skirts and asked us to wear it while inside the shrine.

The site also is said to have healing water coming from a 280 feet deep well and just by drinking it can heal your soul.
