Macro Flowers Saturday # 1

My first time to join Macro Flowers Saturday, and I am so excited about it. I love taking photos of flowers and much more I want to explore macros. I wish I had the right equipment but unfortunately I still can't afford to buy macro lens. Instead, I tried macro using extension tube and so far was able to get good results from it.

This is one of the photos I took using the DIY macro photography.

This tiny little flower that I do not know the name rested on top of the "shift" key of my computer keyboard. Photo was taken last year using an entry level DSLR Canon 1000D.

Spiky Macro Monday

It's another Macro Monday! Yippeee! Today my share is another tiny flower from a weed I guess that I have found just infront of our apartment and it does looked spiky pretty on a very close-up shot.

This is a close-up shot using an 18-250mm sigma lens.

And this how it looks like on a very close-up shot taken using a 2 extension tubes and a kit lens. The spikes are more visible. Pardon the black spots they are actually dust particles.

Macro Croton Flower

I was searching the internet for the international name of this very common colorful houseplant locally known as "San Francisco" here in the Philippines and luckily found it in better homes and gardens (bhg) plant encyclopedia. Her international name is "Croton" a colorful shrub with leathery leaves that grows from 1 to 6 feet tall and her special feature is her attractive and colorful foliage.

I thought this very common plant does not bloom, but on March 6, 2010 while spending the day at Taytay Swimming Pool, I came across bushes of croton and found them to be blooming with tiny star like flower. Good thing hubby and I brought our DIY macro lens and ring light and took a close-up shot of this pretty star flowers.

Here it is and hope you like how I took it...

Ballpoint

Getting more exciting on macro photography now that my husband finally discovered the exact manual setting for his DIY macro.

This is one of the clearest shot that we had using 2 sets of extension tubes, kit lens and a DIY ring light to light up the object and of course not to forget a sturdy tripod.

Macro Yellow Flower

This is a very tiny flower that I have picked at the office backyard, as usual I wasn't able to do my research for the flower's name so I'll settle for Macro Yellow Flower instead.

Please notice the "Shift" at the background? that's my desktop keyboard and that's how tiny this flower is.

I used the same extension tube and kit lens as my DIY macro lens and this one looks better I guess, because I was able to eliminate few of the blurry thing and I was able to capture the detail at the center of the flower.

Anyways love to here comments from you.

Need to grab my things and proceed to the conference room again, we're not done yet on our scheduled team building workshop.

Yellow Birthday Flower

Hello everyone it's already the 25th of January and it's my birthday today! Yippee thank you Lord for giving me another year.

I was supposed to do my posting upon my arrival at the office but wasn't able to do it because I have to prepare materials to be used on our meeting. So here I am trying my best not to be late on my meme mania today.


My post for Macro Monday and Mellow Yellow Monday today is also another super macro experiment thing that I have done together with my last Monday post. Same problem I have encountered , it was so hard to focus. I hope this is a pretty fine photo for a macro. Next time I need to use tripod and hope I can come up with a much better result.

Today I'll call this flower as a Yellow Birthday Flower, since it's my birthday and because I do not know the name of the flower hehehe.

Just Another Macro Experiment

One day I brought my camera with me at the office with the extension tube and kit lens. I wanted to experiment macro again. I picked a yellow weed flower along the way from the canteen to my station during lunch break. And since it was break time I was able to do series of practice shots at my desk. It was not easy, I found it very hard to focus. I have here is one of the successful shot I had, I guess.

Equipment used: Canon 1000D, kit lens 18-55mm and extension tube

I do not know the name of the flower so I'll leave it blank this time.

DIY Super Macro - Yellow Capsules

Since super macro lens is so expensive and we can’t afford it, hubby and I experimented a do-it-yourself super macro. We used an extension tube and 18-55 kit lens and set the camera and lens in manual mode.

My husband picked a branch of flowers outside our apartment and we did a series of experiments. This one is the best we got so far.

I handled the camera while hubby illuminated the object using an LED flashlight.

And this is the actual object, the macro shot was the yellow capsules/fruit of this nameless flower (sorry wasn't able to do my flower name research).
