Aircraft, Clouds and Sunrise

Whenever a Muslim holiday in ARMM is declared, Iligan City is enjoying it too (even though Iligan is not included in the Autonomous Region).

So Today it's a Friday and it's a Holiday! Yippeee!

Time for my 8th SkyWatch Friday!


I have here photos of my previous travel to Metro Manila again (for the 4th time this past two months) last November 16-18, 2009. And as usual I took another shot of PAL Boeing 737-300 in Cagayan de Oro City Airport before I boarded. So here it is against the blue sky and beautifully scattered clouds.

The next shots are my first two "sunrise shots" @ Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, taken on November 18, 2009.

I was already boarding my scheduled flight when another PAL aircraft passed by, hurriedly clicked my point and shoot camera before it took off.

Tired but I'm Free

This is how I feel today... So damn tired...

Starting tomorrow, we will enjoy a long-weekend working break. A Muslim holiday tomorrow Friday here in Iligan and on ARMM Regions and on Monday a National Holiday (Bonifacio Day) so that totals a 4-day happy holiday! yippee!

And because of those holidays I was stacked with loads and loads of report today. I was glued on my desk and hypnotized by the computer, I even felt like throwing-up because all I was looking at were numbers, numbers and numbers. But what else can I do but to force myself to work efficiently because that's what I'm paid for.

Luckily, I was a superwoman! I was able to finish my job just in time whew!

Congratulations to me! Tomorrow I'm free to do anything. No work for me for four (4) straight days, isn't it great?

Hard work really does pay-off.

Bridal Veil Waterfalls

I joined another photo meme this week it is called Watery Wednesday. This site/meme features photos that implies or shows anything related to life's essential element WATER.

So as my first post, I'm sharing here a photo from the City of Waterfalls that I have taken the other week. If I'm not mistaken this is called the Bridal Veil Waterfalls.

This short water falls will have a full water plunge just like a "bride's veil" if the hydro-electric power plants along the Agus River will release water from their reservoir. My husband and I went there a bit late I guess the opening of dam gates were reduced so this is what I got.

The 36.5km length Agus River flows from Lanao Lake to Iligan City Bay along the river you will also find the famous geogrphical landmark of Mindanao the Majestic Ma. Cristina Waterfalls (I don't have the latest photo yet, I'll have it posted as long as I got one).

That's it a little Trivia for you.

White Lantana

My 8th photo for Today's Flower is a White Lantana.


This perennial flower plant belongs in herbaceous and shrubs plant species. The flowers formed in clusters called umbels (consist of short flower stalks) and has an aromatic scent.

I had the same flower posted before, but this time I found an all white variety. I can't resist to capture its beauty.

Five Lobe Capsules

Delayed in posting my Macro Monday entry for today because I am on travel again to head office. Together with 2 colleagues we left Iligan City at 8am today to catch our scheduled 11:50am flight to Metro Manila from Cagayan de Oro City. We'll be attending meeting for QMS Technical Working Team tomorrow and will be flying back home again on Wednesday.

Good thing I brought my laptop with me and my portable pre-paid internet modem, so here it is my post for today entitled Five Lobe Capsules.

These dry five-lobe capsules are the fruits of a hibiscus, my 3rd entry for Macro Monday. Each lobe contains several seeds that will split upon maturity and eventually releases the seeds.

Dendrobium

The largest genus of orchids established by Olof Peter Swartz a Swedish botanist in 1799 is my 7th entry for Today's Flower and my 6th for Mellow Yellow Monday.

Dendrobium was derived from a Greek dendron which means "tree" and bios meaning 'life', therefore the word dendrobium means "one who lives on trees" or an epiphyte.

That's it! a pretty non parasitic plant dendrobium.

SkyWatch Friday # 6 - Islet & Clouds

Structure & Architecture # 1- Baclayon Church

I'm starting a series of post for my site entitled "Structure & Architecture", I don't know if there's a meme for this on other sites I have to search later and join if there is. This series will feature photos I've taken personally that affiliate anything about buildings, structures, architectures, etc.


My first entry will take you to Bohol Philippines, one of the top travel destination in Asia that offers a wide range of tourist attractions. From fine white beaches, scenic natural sights, historical sites to ancient churches. And speaking of ancient churches Bohol host the 2nd oldest Church in the Philippines the "Baclayon Church" located at Baclayon Town and also the oldest church in Bohol.

The Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Baclayon is considered to be one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It is one of the best presevered Jesuit build churches in the region, although in the 19th century, the Augustinian Recollects added a modern facade and a number of stone buildings that now surround the church.

The first Spanish missionaries or doctrineros in the region, Fr. Juan de Torres and Fr. Gabriel Sanchez, first settled in Baclayon in 1595. Shortly after their arrival, a visita was erected on the spot.

Although Baclayon was the first seat of the Spanish Jesuit missionaries, fear of Moro mauraders soon forced them to move their headquarters more inland, to Loboc. Only in 1717, Baclayon became a parish, and construction of a new church commenced. Some 200 native forced laborers constructed the church from coral stones, which they took from the sea, cut into square blocks, and piled on to each other. They used bamboo to move and lift the stones in position, and used the white of a million eggs as to cement them together. The current building was completed in 1727. The church obtained a large bell in 1835. In the Baclayon church is a dungeon, which was used to punish natives who violated the rules of the Roman Catholic church.

Next to the church is the old convent, which also houses a small museum with centuries-old religious relics, artifacts and other antiquities, dating back to the 16th century. Included in the collection are an ivory statue of the crucified Christ looking towards heaven; a statue of the Blessed Virgin, said to be presented by Queen Catherine of Aragon; relics of St. Ignatius of Loyola, old gold embroidered ecclesiastical vestments, books with carabao skin covers, and librettos of church music written in Latin on sheep skins. Here you can also find the cuadro paintings made by the Filipino painter Liberato Gatchalian in 1859.

A Jet Setter? Huh!

Holy cow, I've been busy again at work these past 2 days because I've been preparing my regular reports in advance. Why? because...I'll be flying again to Metro Manila tomorrow morning to attend training on "Electronic Ancillary Service Compliance Monitoring & Scheduling" on Friday @ Makati City. This will be my 3rd trip to Manila / Head Office ever since I was assigned in Operations Planning and I'll be expecting more official travels on days to come. oh no! I'm becoming a jet setter! whew! huh!

So my blog will be silent again, unless I can find time to peek.

Today's Flower - Two More Species of Anthurium

On the first photo, this anthurium has maroon spathe and an even darker shade of maroon as spandix while the second photo has yellowish white spathe and a yellow green spandix.
