From Shanghai on our way to Nanjing

January Zelene       8:24 PM       China , Ruby Tuesday 2 , Structure and Architecture , Travel       18 comments

A representative from the company/supplier in-charge of the project came to fetch us at Shanghai International Airport, and took us to Nanjing, Jiangsu where the training venue was.

As a first timer in a foreign land sightseeing, picture taking are always present. I positioned myself at the window side of the van for that purpose.

Sadly, I chose not to bring my DSLR with me because I felt that it will be too heavy for me to carry around, which honestly I regretted. Nothing beats the quality of the pictures taken from a DSLR especially from a moving vehicle.

Anyway, since I only have with me my Samsung Smart Camera WB250F + my Samsung Smartphone (sorry for emphasizing the brand, I'm a Samsung avid user, I guess) so let's just enjoy the pictures taken from these gadgets.

To start.. these are photos of Pudong Shanghai International Airport taken from a distance. A wide angle lens is badly needed to be able to take a better view of the one of the sophisticated airport in the world.

Outside the airport along the highway, you can see a lot of these freshly transferred or transplanted trees which I think is part of the beautification project of the city or should I say of the whole China because I've seen the same at Nanjing, Jiangsu.

Aside from these trees you'll see a lot of beautiful flowers on the islands in the middle of the city roads.

The flowers are blooming beautifully and the trees are luscious green in China because it's already Spring even with the temperature still reach as low as 10 degrees Celsius at night until early morning.

There are a lot of buildings from single storey to high-rise along side of these road in this part of Shanghai. I wish I can read those characters written on the buildings and streets signage, but too bad only few have English translations.

Can you spot the glass cleaners working outside the building?

I took a zoom shot just to test how far the 18x optical zoom of Samsung WB250F can reach. And

The result is quite impressive huh! A little effort in focusing and stabilizing my hand grip (because I'm on board a moving vehicle) I was able to take a clearer shot.

And another zoom tests I took, were these cute figurines and glass decors mounted on a car dashboard.

I think that's the last traffic light stop we had before we head out to the superhighway.

As an electrical engineer a scene of transmission lines and towers will never be neglected, so here's one that I took along the highway, the last one before I dozed off.

Another 4 hours of travel to Nanjing, and per instruction (I guessed...), our lunch will be served at Nanjing, and were expected to arrive at past 1PM, gutom ang peg good thing I carried this chocolate wafer that the airline gave us, pampatawid gutom..

Ruby Tuesday Too

It's been so long since I went to China. Hopefully I could go with my kids and visit some relatives there.

I promise myself that when I am ready to travel, I should have a DSLR. I am saving for one now. ;)

Despite that not being a DSLR, you took great shots.

My husband just went to China (Guangzhou) last month. He told me that it's a very busy city. Mostly industrial companies and tons of business transaction everywhere - but still it's a good view he said.

I can relate with deciding not to carry a DSLR then regretting it later. :)) Still, I'm sure you had a great time.

Your shots are really good! For the past years that I was travelling, I usually bring along my DSLR and true enough, we get lots of really good pictures especially in moving vehicles...and battery life is really long! But, since I have started using the iPad where we can make collages, I now bring along my compact zoom. I did this when I went to Malaysia last March which was actually practical because I was alone and you can't request others to take your picture if I had my DSLR! When I go to the US this month (alone again!), I will not bring my DSLR anymore!

You take great photos...Even if you don't have a DSLR I believe that its in the photographer and not in the gadgets.
