A Genius Mobile Application
I stumbled upon an article in a local news website about a
newly developed mobile application that will solve your mathematical problem
instantly. The application is called PhotoMath, wherein you only have to take a
photo of the math problem and it will give you the result right away.
PhotoMath according to microblink “reads and solves
mathematical expressions by using the camera of your mobile device in real
time”. As of now the app supports arithmetic expressions (+, -, x, ÷), fractions
and decimals, powers and roots and simple linear equations. More functions are
to be added soon.
It’s like a photo scanner that converts images to text and a
complex calculator combined. This is how the future will be like. The hardest
subject in school becomes a very easy one with the use of the application. As
of now the app is available for iOS and Windows users, and will be available
for Android users in 2015.
Personally, I’ll consider downloading the app next year (I’m
an Android user) because I find the application convenient. But will definitely not recommend it to my
niece who is currently studying engineering and to my children when they’ll
enter school soon. I still prefer for them to learn the basic and advance
mathematics the hard way, like what I had during my student days, so that they will appreciate what mathematics
really is, and make use of their God given gifts ‘the brain”.
The application may be used to compare the answers and the
method of computation, since the app also shows the step by step solution but
definitely not to rely solely on the app.
How about you? Care to share your thoughts about this
technology breakthrough?
That's good thing to know but I rather learn in traditional way. It makes the new generation so relax and not able to learn anything without help from smartphone, apps and what not.
