Davao City: My First Travel Destination for 2016

January Zelene       10:58 PM       Davao City , Food and Travel , Travel , Travel Destination       19 comments

My first work related travel destination for the 2016 is to the “Durian Capital” of the Philippines. My colleague and I were tasked to attend a meeting with our partners in the industry. Though with injured right leg due to the calf muscle tear, limping, walking one step at a time, I still agreed to travel, after all the pain was less compared to the first few days after the incident.

On board the Cebgo ATR 72-500, we left Laguindingan Airport at 4:30PM short flights are usually on time (unlike flights to Manila) so we landed in Davao at 5:30PM, then took a cab to Seda our booked hotel for this work related travel. I had to ask my colleague to buy our dinner, because going out was already too much for me. My leg needed a good and comfortable rest.

Injured leg... rested! 😆😊 Thank You Lord for keeping us safe. #sedahotel #abreeza #davaocity

The next day, before the eat all you can breakfast buffet, Riz and I went for some photo ops at the pool side of the hotel. I’ve stayed in this hotel for a couple of times already, but this was the first time I actually took photos in the area, the perk of having a travel companion. Cool!

I looked slimmer in this photo. Liked! :-)

Seda offers a bountiful breakfast, an eat all you can, that one can enjoy from the main course, bread and pastry, salad, to desserts. You can actually stay from 6AM to 10AM trying the food they have, but in our case we have limited time and limited stomach space so we only chose what interest us.

food on my plate

At 8:30AM we’re off to Casa Leticia the venue of the meeting. Technical meetings can either last for more than 8 hours or and an hour or two. But the one we attended adjourned earlier at 2PM (an approximately 5 hours of discussions). That means we have extra free time to just slack in the hotel or checkout some restaurant. And we chose the latter.

The Saging Repablik is one of the must try food hub in the city today, it does make waves in the social media and already got featured, but honestly it was my first time to hear about it. Haha! It was Riz who suggested trying and who I am to decline, after all I am very open to food adventures. winkz*

A trip to Saging Repablik with @saimaaragrev @sagingrepablik #createyourownbananacue #davaocity #travel #foodtrip

So off we went to Saging Repablik located at Tionko Street corner V. Mapa Street, Davao City. I didn’t know that Saging (banana) can be made into various dishes. It was one unique experience. (Separate post to follow).

Done with the meeting. It's time to #foodtripping with @saimaaragrev at the Saging Repablik #davaocity #travel

We went back to the hotel after an hour stay in Saging Repablik. Riz went to his parents’ house, while I spent the rest of the afternoon at Abreeza Mall.

Spotting the 20% discount at BAMBU, I can’t help but get another pair of flip flops (my 3rd for the month haha), an Ipanema Bossa, the double straps and not so flat heel were the reasons why I fell in love with it.

Then to Starbucks not for a cup of coffee, but to get a city mug to trade with the Riyadh city mug that my friend has and a cute Valentine mug to add to my growing collection.

I was supposed to meet my friend, but due to his busy schedule, he wasn’t able to make it. Thus, I went to the Supermarket and bought this mixed fruit for dinner.

The next morning, we checked out early, had a very quick breakfast and headed straight to the airport to catch the 7:50AM flight to Cagayan de Oro City. I can’t help but take photos of the clouds from the window, as a reminder how God made our world beautiful.

In spite of the bouncy flight, I thank God for we have arrived safely. And that ends our 40-hour travel to Davao City.

Hope you had a wonderful read. ciao!

Nice, stress-free trip! The beautifully, pedicured nails nicely masked the injury. May bagong flip-flops pa! Sa Butuan na next time ang meeting. hehehe

Looks like you had a great time in Davao. It's nice to see food pictures, that's one of the best ways to get to know a place... through the food that they serve.

I am very fond of eat-all-you-can buffet for breakfast in hotels. That's one part I am always looking forward to. I'm curious about the banana with candies like M&M's, though.

Seda is really a great hotel. And I am intrigue by that banana recipe style, such a unique way of representing bananas.
