Food Trip in Nanjing, China: The Lunch in the Employee Cafeteria
Those are the breakfast meals we had, next stop is the lunch
meals at the company’s cafeteria.
Like the rest of the employees of the engineering technology
center in Jiangning District, we had our lunch at one of the level of their three-storey cafeteria between 12NN to
1PM. Yep! You read it right, the company has a 3-storey self-service restaurant
that caters their thousands of employees.
The host took us at the 2nd level.
Wondering the difference? Accordingly, each level has a different menu served and
with equivalent price. The cheapest is in the 1st level at ¥10,
¥20
on the 2nd level and ¥30 at the 3rd where the
executives usually had their lunch.
Imagine how crowded the dining halls are with thousand of
employees flocking at the same time to take their lunch? So as much as I want to take some photos, I
simply can’t considering the situation. I only managed to snap photos of the
foods I had when settled on one of the tables.
Looking at the food I got, because these were the only ones
available, the Chinese are really into green vegetables, I actually saw a lot
of green veggies there that I have not seen here in the Philippines yet. Though
some of the foods were bland, some have unique flavor and delicious especially the desserts.
After the lunch, we had a chance to explore the area near
the canteen.

Stay tuned for the next post, the blooming cherry blossoms…
Wonderful lake and yummy food. I like Chinese food.
