Food Trip in Nanjing: The Breakfast at the Hotel

January Zelene       9:30 PM       China , Chinese Cuisine , Food and Travel , Local Chinese Food , Nanjing China , Travel , Travel Destination       11 comments

Like I’ve said in one of my previous post, I was really hoping to try any exotic Chinese cuisines, like, the turtles, snakes, frogs, etc. Sadly, our one week stay never allowed us to have any unless, if paid using our own pocket money, we could have tried, but thinking it will be expensive made us backed off. Nevertheless, trying their local foods that are a little different in terms of taste, appearance and the method of cooking compare to Filipino cuisine, was a one worth of experience.

I already shared the first meal we had in Nanjing. In this post were the food served at Phoenix Hotel.

Day 1

The breakfast at the hotel is served starting 7AM, but since we have to leave the hotel at 7AM to catch the company bus going to Jiangning District, Nanjing, we asked the hotel to open the breakfast area for use by 6AM and have whatever is available.

Day 2
Meaning, we had the same breakfast for 4 consecutive days before we finally get to see the whole set of buffet breakfast at hotel.

I actually posted these photos in my Instagram account, linked to Facebook, so that my family and friends will be able see to my travel updates.

FYI: Facebook is not allowed in China.

Day 2 & 4
10 of us in our batch + some colleagues who were already there for FAT (factory acceptance test) took turns in cooking and toasting the scrambled egg and the slice bread. Plus the green veggies, the cherry tomatoes (super loved!), the lavender cabbage, orange fruits, and hot coffee served in a glass because there were no available ceramic cups yet, completed our “in-a-rush” meal.

Day 5
On the fifth day, because it was our tour day, we had our breakfast at 7AM, by that time the full buffet courses were almost served. I wouldn’t say that I was excited to see the dishes served, because I was already in the state of getting used with the taste and smell of the local food, and needed something different.

Anyhow, the dishes this time were worthy to eat + I tasted the pancit China style as shown in my plate, but our pancit here taste much much better compared to what I had there.

Have you tried the foods above?

If any Chinese friends put there who knows the name of the dishes above kindly let me know by leaving a comment with your name below. Thanks in advance.

Have a Nice Day!

It's good that they are accomodating with your request. Cherry tomatoes are yummy and go well with salads.

The food looks yummy sis. When I was in Thailand, I never enjoyed eating at the Hotel buffet though the food were great as well. That's because I am eating alone e. Hehe

I can only tell off hand the eggs on the right are Herbal Tea eggs or as they call it in Chinese Cha Yeh Tan. The white buns on the bottom left I think looks like Man tou ( empty buns where you stuff meat inside)..the rest I can't identify.:P

I have no idea what are the names of the dishes served. But I guess that's ok, I can eat food that I don't know the name as long as they are good to eat - kind of an adventure.

I remembered my first trip to Singapore. The hotel served exactly the same breakfast everyday! But what matters is, it's free and it could last you all a couple of hours :)
