Who would forget the phrase “Once in a Blue Moon”? Accordingly, Blue moon illuminated the sky on New Year's Eve. Don’t expect a literal “blue” moon because you won’t be seeing one.
Blue Moon is only the term used on the 2nd full moon that appeared in a single month.
The last full moon in 2009 was on December 2 and the 2nd was on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2009) in Europe, US, Canada, South America and Africa while for Asia and Australia the blue moon showed up until New Year’s Day thus we Asians as well as Australians were graced with blue moon on New Year’s Day.
I have here a New Year’s Eve photo of the moon approaching to its full phase taken @ Cabanglasan, Bukidnon.
I wasn’t lucky enough to capture the blue moon just few hours after New Year, because I fell asleep. Huh!
This is my first entry on My World on Tuesday for 2010.
Oh, and what a beautiful moon it is! Unfortunately, in Seattle it's too cloudy and rainy to see the moon, so I get to enjoy it this way! Beautiful shot!

Magnificent capture of that celestial neighbor.
ReplyDeleteNice capture. There was fog in our area that night so there wasn't a good time to capture it.
