The Larva (Caterpillar)
I spotted this green Caterpillar on one of the Vinca plant in the front yard. He continuously eats the leaf, never once bothered with the camera pointing in his direction.
This is the second stage of the life cycle of a butterfly
called The Larva. The egg (1st stage) hatches on a leaf, and formed into a
larvae or the caterpillar. The caterpillar job is to eat and eat, eating the
leaf he was born onto.
And when he reaches the desired length he will turn into a
pupa and later into an adult butterfly.
This is a very pretty caterpillar.

ReplyDeleteUy sis, si Daddy A mahilig mag-alaga ng caterpillar. Right now we have one at home. Matt and him is feeding it inside a bottle. Nag-cocoon na sya and soon will be a butterfly.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how you were able to capture this creature! Ang ganda!
ReplyDeleteNice capture on that tiny creature.
ReplyDeleteIf I am not mistaken, such caterpillar will eventually turn into a big brown moth.
By the way, I recently collected a caterpillar in my calamansi plant and now it turned into cocoon. We are waiting for it to become a butterfly.
